Gainesville: Movies on the Green Features 'Rango' Aug 20

The Arts Council, Inc. is proud to present the animated feature RANGO. RANGO will play on Saturday, August 20 at the Arts Council Smithgall Arts Center (331 Spring Street SW, Gainesville, GA). RANGO is RATED- G. The movie will start at dusk. Our gates will open at 7:30 with pre-movie activities for children.

MOVIES ON THE GREEN are for the ENTIRE FAMILY! Pack your blankets, lawn chairs, refreshments and picnics and mark your spot on our lawn. Deep South Hotdogs and Lakeview Academy will be onsite with refreshments. Movies will be shown on a large inflatable screen. Watch with fascination as the world of caricatures comes to life and revel in the sounds of children laughing. Relax after a long summer’s day, under the moonlight, and build lifelong memories with your family and friends. Summers are meant for magical moments such as these!

RANGO (voiced by Johnny Depp) is a treasure trove of anthropomorphized animal characters and animated eye-candy. Rango is a pet chameleon who immerses himself in empty fantasy before he finds himself accidentally dumped on a long stretch of the Mojave dessert. It’s the look that sells the movie, and what makes it worth a look on the big screen. The art direction is stupendous, serving up weather-beaten little critters that are exploding with the tiniest details. When it comes to quick gags the script is particularly nimble and every joke is animated with the same keen feel for timing and movement that brings the action set-pieces to life. If the landscape resembles that of a dessert, RANGO is a fresh drink of water.

Gates will open at 7:3 0PM and movies start at dusk. Tickets: Free for Arts Council Members; Non-members $4 Adult; $2 Senior/Child. To order tickets call The Arts Council, Inc. at 770-534-2787 or visit www.theartscouncil.net Additional sponsors include Lakeview Academy and WDUN AM550 & 102.9FM.
